Of all of these, I suspect generational turnover is the largest factor. Gen X has been languishing under the fat boomer thumb for its entire existence, and the generation's one uniting characteristic is to loathe everything the Eternal Boomer stands for.

As the Boomers die off, the power struggle is going to be between Gen X and the Millennials, with the hearts and minds of the Zoomers being the terrain over which they fight.

Knowing many Millennials myself, I hope that Gen X wins that war.

Millennials are more numerous, but emotionally fragile. I don't fancy their chances.

There are competent red-pilled ones, like Andrew Torba. I even suspect that Mark Zuckerberg is less woke than he lets on -- he just bows to the Church of Social Justice because he needs to.

Maybe the competent and based Millenials will end up ruling. I would be fine with that.

Millennials are consummate conformists. I suspect a large part of their wokeness is just currying favor with boomers. Once the Xers are saying, nah, we're not playing that game any more, a fair fraction of millennials will jump ship.

I suspect that higher rates of Millennials than Gen Xers opted out of being parents, and of those Millennials that did have families, they skew rightwards politically, compared to their generation as a whole. Plus, the whole woke nonsense is now the official ideology of all the squares, whereas the fun-loving, free-thinking dissidents are on the Right, and you get a scenario in which the best minds of the rising generation are going to develop an early and abiding hatred for Marxcissist bullshit. A big backlash is coming, and the rising generation will be largely on board with it.

I hope you're right, but for that to happen, the rightwards-leaning Millennials would need to capture elite positions in society. God willing the 'best minds,' as you put it, capture the institutions.

Wow!! Great analysis. Could be true, make sense to me:)

And where to put China and WEF in this narrative?

Thank you.

I think China and WEF are competing for spoils. Both want to implement technocratic authoritarianism, but methinks China will be more efficient at doing so.

I confess my knowledge of this area is somewhat lacking though. What is your take?

An interesting and entertaining analysis! Especially the generational component. I found myself wondering why you were not mentioning the elephant (named Tikkun Olam?) in the room, but then I remembered that you warned us you were not going into the more sinister aspects of ESG. Do you see any signs that the upcoming generations of those Tikkuning the Olam are any less obsessed with the apparent goals of their ancestors?

I would add that Tikkun Olam is not something I am an expert on, so I don’t discuss it. Maybe some other time.

That's fine. Your article is good! And it's usually wise to not draw the ire of an elephant.

Hey just a quibble but Joe Biden aka Mr Magoo is so old he's not even a Boomer, he was born in 1942, which i guess makes him Silent?

Also, I'd just like to add that the Church of Social Justice has also arisen (esp among the young) to fill the god-shaped hole in modern secular Americans. It is a deeply Christian ideology (really a Christian heresy), centered around love of the victim and healing the wounds of the poor (marginalized), so I think it's important to include spiritual thirst/needs among the factors that have helped foment our Cultural Revolution.

Thanks!

Well caught! Joe Biden, Noam Chomsky, and Nancy Pelosi are part of the Silent Generation.

Howe and Strauss, in their book "The Fourth Turning," describe the Silent Generation as exactly that: silent. Unlikely to fight back, they bent over backwards to accommodate the Civil Rights uprising and feminism in the 1960s and 1970s.

In essence, the Silent Generation kowtowed to Boomer grievances. They are essentially Boomers themselves.

I agree with you that Social Justice is essentially a perversion of traditional Christian teaching. 'Thou shalt not judge' has turned into 'Thou shalt accept my transgressions and celebrate them.'

this post by helen dale helped clarify for me the extent that Woke is Christian heresy. Is worth a read, if you haven't seen:
